The Impact Of Wellbeing On Performance

  

In today's fast paced world, it's all too easy to miss signs that one of your employees is under immense stress from taking on an amount of workload over a prolonged period of time that has stretched them thin. A level of stress that could possibly lead them spiralling down a path towards experiencing high levels of anxiety, depression and/or burnout (emotional and physical exhaustion). 


Not all stress is bad and in fact the experience of stress has positive effects as well as the negative mentioned above. It is finding the balance, driven by the enhancement of total wellbeing (emotional, physical & emotional), that can help an employee avoid experiencing such high levels of the negative effects of stress. High levels that can cause a decline in health, performance and happiness at work, key drivers of employee retention.

From Maternity Leave To Peak Performance and Wellbeing

Having a new baby, whether the first or not, impacts the life of parents in a big way. 


An impact that ‘maternal leave’ gives an opportunity to adapt to within the home life but what about the work life? A new addition to the family affects both parts of life. The way things were done before doesn’t always necessarily work afterwards and not defining a new balance quick enough can cause a mother to struggle with keeping up with the demands at home and work. This can affect their wellbeing, engagement at work, performance at work and possibly be a catalyst for them to leaving work all together. 


Providing support to employees with transitioning back into the workplace not only helps the employee thrive but it also enhances an organisation’s top-level performance and contributes to an organisation’s efforts towards enhancing the diversity & inclusion of women in the workplace.
